Town council chairman Councillor Lindsay Gaskell with children at the urban beach
Barnoldswick ’s urban beach had its best ever opening day.
Hundreds of visitors flocked to the town square to play in the sand and enjoy free donkey rides.
Town council chairman Councillor Lindsay Gaskell declared the beach open - and, during the first day, donkeys Joe and Ted gave rides to more than 200 children.
The beach is provided by Barnoldswick Town Council and is run entirely by volunteers, with free admission.
It will be open from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday, until Wednesday, August 29. For more details, log onto visitbarnoldswick.co.uk/events.php
