Ofsted praise for Parish Church School, Skipton

A Skipton school is celebrating after being praised by Ofsted inspectors.

Parish Church Primary School was described as a good school with pupils leaving with higher than average attainment.

Lead inspector Lenford White said pupil behaviour was good, the achievement of others was celebrated in assembly and it was a ‘delight’ to see children helping each other.

In his report, he said the school was not yet outstanding because the quality of teaching was good rather than outstanding.

The school was given the second highest ‘good’ rating for pupils achievement, quality of teaching, behaviour and safety of pupils and leadership and management.

It was also given a ‘good’ for its overall effectiveness.

Headteacher, Ellen Woodthorpe, said: “We are thrilled with the outcomes of our Ofsted inspection.

“We have a strong staff team who are dedicated, hardworking and professional who provide high expectations and an exciting curriculum for our children. We are pleased to say that our school is well supported by its governing body, parents and the wider community.”
