Craven Police have handed over more than £7,000 to charity.

The money was raised at the annual Craven Police charity quiz and auction night in March and last month’s family fun day and football tournament in Skipton .

In total, £7,322 was realised, with Craven YMCA and Children’s Cancer Research each receiving £3,661.

The football tournament saw business, community and emergency service teams competing in a six-a-side tournament.

The final was between last year’s beaten finalists Broughton Dynamos (Trio Healthcare) and last year’s semi-finalists Tesco Tigers (Tesco Skipton).

Dynamos took a 1-0 lead into the second half but, with a minute to go before full-time, Tesco scored an equaliser. The match was decided in extra time, with Tesco scoring a crucial second goal.

Next year’s charity quiz and auction night is due to take place at the Rendezvous Hotel, Skipton, on Friday, March 8, at 7.15pm. Teams old and new are welcome.
