Masked raid at Kildwick filling station

Burglars, wearing hoodies and masks, raided the Co-op filling station at Kildwick Roundabout in the early hours of Sunday.

Police say the two male offenders – who were caught on CCTV cameras – cut the alarm, jemmied a wooden side door and ransacked the shop.

They fled with five black bin liners full of cigarettes, thought to be worth more than £1,000. “They disappeared through the underpass and into the darkness,” said investigating officer PC Andy Woolley.

Police say the raid occurred at about 4.20am, but believe the burglars could have been loitering in the area for up two hours before the incident.

Now they are appealing for witnesses to come forward or anyone with information. Those who can help should contact PC Woolley at Cross Hills Police on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
