Life’s a beach at The Castle pub, Skipton

The beach comes to Skipton this Bank Holiday as a popular landlocked pub is transformed into a seaside destination for the day.

The Castle Inn is changing its name to the Sandcastle Inn on Sunday, August 26, when the pub will be transformed into an Hawaiian paradise, complete with new signs and limbo dancing.

For one day only, it will be tropical cocktails and beach games all the way.

Landlord Calvin Dow said: “We’re bringing the beach to Skipton. Being halfway between the east and west coast, Skipton misses out on seaside fun so we thought we’d bring a flavour of the beach to our town. The only thing I can’t promise is the sunshine.”

Staff will don flower garlands and shades, while visitors can try surfing.
