Keith Moorby, Damon Ralph and Aaron Outhwaite prepare for their Land’s End to John O’Groats challenge
Skipton man Keith Moorby has embarked on a massive tour of the country – in an old banger he bought for £150.
Keith, community champion at Tesco in Skipton, has organised the event to raise money for Cancer Research UK’s lifesaving work.
At the wheel of his 12-year-old Renault Kangoo, Keith set out on Monday, accompanied by friends Damon Ralph and Aaron Outhwaite, who are also from Skipton.
Over five days, they plan to travel to John O’Groats and down to Land’s End via Inverness, Nottingham, London, Liverpool and Manchester where they will visit the set of TV soap Coronation Street.
Keith hopes to raise more than £1,000 and contribute to the £10 million target that Tesco staff aim to hit for Cancer Research UK, its charity of the year.
The money will help support research into improving the early diagnosis and detection of cancer, helping to ensure more people receive treatment at a time when it is more likely to be successful.
Keith said: “I was really keen to come up with a fun way of supporting our charity of the year and I think this will be a huge challenge. Although the car looks OK from the outside, it was so cheap that we are not sure how long it will actually last.
“Hopefully we will raise lots of money to help Cancer Research UK’s doctors, nurses and scientists beat cancer.”
