Former Craven District Council chairman Andy Quinn (centre) hands over a fundraising cheque to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance charity
Craven residents have been thanked for their part in raising £3,256 for two good causes during Andy Quinn’s year as chairman of Craven District Council.
Coun Quinn chose the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Reg Vaux Snowdrop Appeal, for research into mesothelioma, as his charities for the year.
The money was raised through a raffle and auction of donated goods and sponsorship collected by swimmers at Skipton ’s Craven Pool, who together covered 190 miles.
Coun Quinn said: “I would like to thank everyone who supported my nominated good causes. I am really pleased at the amount raised, bearing in mind that the country is going through such difficult economic times.
“My gratitude goes to those who donated goods and services for the raffle and auction, as well as those who purchased tickets and made bids.
“Each year the swimmers at Craven Swimming Pool continue to raise money for the chairmen’s good causes.
“Some of them have been raising money in this way for many years.”
