Battle of Britain parade to be held in Skipton

The Skipton branch of the Royal Air Forces Association will hold its annual Battle of Britain parade on Sunday.

It will assemble at the bottom of Chapel Hill at 5.45pm before marching to the High Street cenotaph for a wreath laying ceremony at 6pm and to Christ Church for a memorial service at 6.30pm.

The parade will be supported by various service organisations and standards, as well as civic dignitaries including Skipton MP Julian Smith.

Also in attendance will be Air Commodore Colin Smith, ex RAF High Wycombe, and RAFA northern area president Air Commodore R Corney.

Afterwards, RAFA headquarters on Moorview Way will host a buffet for members and those involved in the parade.

Meanwhile the Battle of Britain Wings collection will take place on Skipton streets and at a stall in Craven Court, next Saturday, September 15.

Further collections will be held at Morrisons, Skipton, on Monday, December 3 and Tuesday, December 4 and at Skipton’s Tesco store on Thursday, December 13.
