Cancer charities join forces

A cancer support charity, launched by two Craven cancer survivors, has joined forces with Cancer Support Bradford and Airedale .

Keighley and Airedale Cancer Support, set up in March by Adele Smithurst, 36, of Cross Hills and Rachael Moorhouse, 42, of Carleton , will now be known as Cancer Support (Keighley branch).

They will continue to offer practical support and counselling from their base in the Keighley Civic Centre.

Rachael, a counsellor, said: “Adele and I are excited about being able to provide this service with Cancer Support Bradford and Airedale. We’re looking forward to developing the service further.”

Cancer Support Bradford and Airedale, with its headquarters at Daisy House Farm in Smith Lane, Bradford, celebrates its silver jubilee next year and supports more than 3,000 cancer patients a year.

Linda Howard, director of Cancer Support Bradford and Airedale said: “This is an exciting development for the charity.”

Rachael and Adele will be available at The Civic Centre on Thursdays from 10am to noon and 1pm to 3pm. Call 01535 616156.
