Nonagenarian Helen is still going strong

BIRTHDAY GIRL: Helen Lupton
A woman, who has immersed herself in North Craven life, has celebrated her 90th birthday.
Helen Lupton moved to Settle with her late husband, Arthur, in 1985 - but it was only by chance that they ended up spending their retirement years in the town.
They had been living near London, and were on their way to visit Arthur’s sister in Bedale when they decided to pop into Settle to buy a plant.
While wandering about, they picked up particulars for a house on Constitution Hill - and the rest, as they say, is history.
They soon became active members of the community, with Mrs Lupton serving on the local Abbeyfield committee, the regeneration group and Settle Swimming Pool Committee. She is also a member of Settle WI.
Mrs Lupton has four children and nine grandchildren.
