Long Preston man admits possessing ‘grossly offensive’ images

A 31-year-old man has pleaded guilty at Bradford Crown Court to possessing child pornography and hundreds of images of bestiality.

Robert Peter Moore was rebailed by Judge Jonathan Rose on Monday to come back to the court on September 28 to allow the Crown time to consider his basis of plea.

A report will then be prepared by the probation service and a sentencing date fixed.

Moore admitted 15 charges of possessing pornographic pictures of children and animals on February 17.

He also pleaded guilty to ten offences of possession of indecent photos of a child, including one at the most extreme level of seriousness, and a “wrap up” count of possessing 72 indecent photos of children.

Moore, who wore a casual T-shirt for the court hearing, also admitted four allegations of possession of images and videos of bestiality.

One charged him with having 635 extreme pornographic images and 79 videos of people having sex with animals.

As part of the details of the charges read out in court, the images were said to be “grossly offensive, disgusting or otherwise of an obscene character”.

Moore’s case was committed to Bradford Crown Court by magistrates in Skipton in July because they considered it too serious to deal with themselves.

Prosecutor Kama Melly told the court she needed time to consider the acceptability of the basis of plea used by Moore, of Ribblesdale Estate, Long Preston .

Otherwise, the issues dividing prosecution and defence would be determined by a judge at a trial of issue hearing.

Miss Melly said she would be contacting investigating police officers before the case was re-listed.

Moore’s barrister, Robin Frieze, said a request for a report from the probation service would be made when the matter was resolved.

Judge Rose ordered Moore to immediately sign on with the police as a convicted sex offender.
