Views on Addingham's Farfield Farm waste scheme under consideration

Planners are still awaiting consultation responses before making their decision on plans to fill in a ravine on Addingham farmland with tonnes of soil and inert waste.
Tenant farmer Philip Barker is seeking permission from North Yorkshire County Council to dump waste at the Duke of Devonshire-owned Farfield Farm.
The plan sets out a route for dozens of trucks visiting the farm, avoiding Addingham. There is concern from the village that it could result in as many as 30 trucks on some days using narrow country roads nearby.
The Yorkshire Dales Society has objected to the plan, claiming it would detract significantly from visual amenities.
The applicant says filling in the ravine would enable farm machinery to cut back weeds and gorse, allowing livestock to graze, improving the landscape.
