A public hearing will be held this week into an appeal by Liberty Properties over non-determination of a plan to build a Tesco superstore in Barnoldswick .

The developer is seeking permission to build the store on the land at L&P Springs site, off Wellhouse Road.

No decision was made on its first application - which is the subject of the appeal - while a second application was turned down in August, along with a separate plan for a smaller Aldi supermarket on a nearby site.

However, the West Craven Area Committee approved a third scheme, submitted by Barnoldswick firm Albert Hartley, which included the redevelopment of the Crownest Mill site and the erection of a building which could, in future, be used as a supermarket.

The appeal will be heard by an inspector appointed by the Secretary of State and will take place in the Wilson Room of Nelson Town Hall on Tuesday at 10am.
