Young athletes are being urged to sign up to a junior triathlon competition being held in Skipton .
Organised by Craven Energy, the day-long event will take place on Saturday at Craven Pool and Fitness Centre.
Declan Hayes, Craven Energy chairman, said the event was in response to calls from parents.
“We’d already had quite a lot of inquiries from children and their parents about junior triathlon training and then the Brownlee brothers became national names with their fantastic achievement at the Olympics.
“We’ve seen a huge surge of interest and are delighted to be holding our third junior event so soon after the Olympics to give children the chance to emulate our heroes.”
The event will feature three races for age groups eight to nine, nine to 11, and 12 to 14.
The youngest group will do a 50m swim, 750m bike ride and 500m run. The nine to 11-year-olds will do a 100m swim, 1,500m bike ride and 1,000m run; while the oldest group will swim 200m, bike 2,250m and run 1,500m.
Entry will be £10 to £15, depending on age group.
