Paralympic archer Danielle Brown inspired students at Lothersdale Primary School by showing off her new gold medal at an assembly this week.

Headteacher Jo Robinson said staff surprised the students by organising a visit of the two-time Paralympic gold medallist, who is a former pupil, on Tuesday.

“The children were absolutely stunned that she was here,” said Mrs Robinson. “The children got to hold her gold medal and they told Danielle how proud we were of her. You could tell by the looks on their faces that they were quite inspired by her.”

Danielle also thanked the staff and students for allowing Channel 4 cameras to film a ‘Paralympic road show’ at the school for the 2012 Paralympic Games.

“Everybody’s been so friendly and supportive, it’s nice for me to give something back,” said Danielle. “So many people have helped me get to where I am now.”
