Recycling plea to Craven residents

Craven people are being urged to de-clutter and recycle unwanted small electrical items.
Items from toasters and irons to hair straighteners, power tools and radios can all now be taken to one of North Yorkshire County Council’s household waste sites.
Stickers encouraging residents to recycle electrical items are being stuck to wheelie bins following funding from the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment local project fund.
Coun Carl Lis, Craven District Council’s lead member for the environment, said all small electronical items could be recycled. “It means instead of them clogging up cupboards or ending up in landfill, the electrical items are recycled. They will be sent for reprocessing and contribute to new products as new recycled goods.”
County councillor Richard Welch said a visit to a waste centre was now a pleasurable experience.
“I have had a lot of comments from people in North Craven that the operatives at the Settle site are polite, helpful and that nothing is too much trouble for them.”
