A couple are celebrating their 20th year anniversary as owners of a Sutton-in-Craven pub.
Steve and Sue Morgan, landlords of the Kings Arms Inn, raised a glass of bubbly with their customers to celebrate 20 years of running the High Street pub. Sue said running the pub had never felt like a job to her.
“To be honest, if you’re in a pub it’s a way of life, not so much a job,” she said. “We have a band of very loyal customers to keep us going.
“Every moment is a nice moment because every day is different.”
Steve, 61, and Sue, 56, have also just signed a new lease that could see them running the pub for another 20 years.
“I plan on carrying on as long as I can,” said Sue. “There’s room behind the bar for a zimmer frame, so in the future our customers might have to wait a little longer for their beer!”
Sue believes that she and Steve could be the longest-serving landlords in Craven.
“Over the 20 years, it’s been very enjoyable,” said Steve. “We’ve got a good village. A lot of our customers come from here or just outside it.”
Steve and Sue, who live at the pub, have five children and six grandchildren.
