All standards of entries proved good to sell at the Monday weekly rearing calf sale at Skipton Auction Mart.
Sutton-in-Craven’s Richard Spence led the trade at £390 with a six-week-old Limousin-cross bull calf, while Continental heifer calves were notably strong, with British Blues averaging £322.50 per head.
A 35-day-old Friesian bull calf from John Blackwell, of Gargrave, made £152, with an overall black and white average of £76 per head. Continentals averaged £301.42 and native breeds £209.20.
Eleven loads of produce were forward for the weekly sale, with barley straw mini hestons selling to £78 per tonne, round bale hay to £25 per bale, small bale hay to £3 per bale and wheat straw quads to £14 per bale.
