EMBSAY farmer AJ Mason achieved success in the North-East Limousin Cattle Breeders Club champion herd competition.

Mr Mason, of Oddacres, took first prize in the large herd section and joint third in the section for calves born in 2014.

For the second year running, the Barrons herd of Willie Barron, based at Morrow Edge Farm, Burnhope, took the overall championship.

The 2014 competition was judged by Steven and Ruth Priestley, of the Brontemoor herd in Kirkambeck, Brampton, with herd competition prizes announced and presented at the club’s annual dinner at The Bridge Inn, Walshford.
