MEMBERS of the Craven Conservation Group spent a day, helping to improve Cleatop Park Wood, a local nature reserve owned by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority.
At just over a mile from Settle, the wood is an important resource for the town.
A group spokesman said: "We spent the day pruning back tree branches that were damaging the dry stone wall around the wood. The cut branches will be made into wood chip and used to improve the public footpath that runs through the wood, which gets wet and muddy during the winter."
Another event will be held on Saturday, January 24, and all are welcome. No previous experience is needed and participants should take along old, warm clothes, waterproofs, lunch, hot drinks and sturdy shoes or boots.
