SHOPPERS in Settle gave generously in the run-up to Christmas to support local projects caring for the environment, landscape and communities of the Yorkshire Dales.

Local charity Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust (YDMT) held a festive fundraising collection in the Settle Booths store raising £143 through donations and sales of Yorkshire Dales-inspired gifts.

Booths stores across Yorkshire have supported the work of YDMT to the tune of £17,278 since 2006, including donations totalling £15,000 from the leading northern retailer, as well as donations and support from shoppers.

Neil Croskery, manager of Booths’ Settle store, said: “We’re thrilled to have raised such a significant amount over the years thanks to the generosity of Booths customers.

"The YDMT is committed to conserving our stunning landscape and environment and contributing to the sustainability of our rural economy and communities. This remarkable work means a great deal to Booths customers and employees who live and work within the Yorkshire Dales and to many of our suppliers who farm the land.”

Sarah Brewer, YDMT fundraiser, added: “The ongoing support of local businesses like Booths and their customers is really important to our work. This kindness and generosity enables us to continue a range of beneficial projects, such as education, outreach and habitat conservation across the Yorkshire Dales.”
