THE Farmer Network is helping many of its 750 farmer members the Yorkshire Dales and Cumbria to tackle the devastation left by Storm Desmond.

The network has created a new flood recovery directory, designed to gather information from affected farmers about the type and extent of damage and the remedial work needed to start to put things back together.

Other farmers or businesses who may be able to supply labour, machinery or other services to help affected farmers, can also join the directory and then make contact.

Farmer Network managing director Adam Day said: “Our mantra has always revolved around farmers working with farmers. Our new flood recovery directory aims to bring the farming communities together to help each other in a time of desperate need.

"Some affected farmers have been flooded horrendously three times in ten years. On the back of poor prices in several sectors, many are looking at wrecked farms and buildings and wondering where to start. We want those farmers to know that as a community we are here to help.”

Those affected by the floods or wishing to help should contact the Farmer Network on 01768 868615 or email info@thefarmernetwork.co.uk. The directory can be viewed at thefarmernetwork.co.uk/flood-recovery-labour-directory/.
