AWARD-winning students from Skipton Girls’ High School had little time to enjoy their success at the national Young Enterprise competition.

Just days after winning the Retail Excellence Award, the girls were back in action, promoting their company We Are Yorkshire and selling some of their goods at the Tour de France celebrations in Skipton.

The company - which represented Yorkshire and Humber at the Young Enterprise UK Final - had taken the iconic Yorkshire Rose and re-designed it with a modern twist, adding it to notebooks, T-shirts and mugs along with Yorkshire sayings and dialect.

The girls beat off competition from 25,000 students from across the UK and Gibraltar to win the award Catherine Scriven, marketing director, said: “We’ve grown in confidence as a company, but I think we’ve also grown as individuals and recognised all of our skills."

And Sophie Hostler, product director, added: “We’ve been looking into increasing the product range through licensing, and we’re also looking into franchising the company."

The team received national endorsements from celebrities such as Rachel Riley and Alex Brooker.
