STAFF from South Craven School at Cross Hills took part in one of the region's biggest ever educational training days.

More than 900 teachers and other staff from11 upper schools across Yorkshire took part in the event, at Harrogate International Conference Centre.

The day was organised by the Red Kite Teaching School Alliance.

There were speakers and delegates focused on issues including literacy, numeracy, engaging boys, challenging the most able pupils and using technology to enhance learning.

Dr Andrew Cummings, headteacher at South Craven School, said: "This was our first experience of a Red Kite day and it surpassed our expectations.

"Although we run several very effective training days in school throughout the year, being able to meet with such a large group of professionals and share practice was extremely valuable. The networks which were established will lead to some real collaborative work in the future.”

The Red Kite Teaching School Alliance is a partnership of 24 Yorkshire schools and institutions.
