The school said twenty-five per cent of the cohort achieved A* or A grades across their subjects, 43 per cent of grades at A* to A and 69 per cent of passes at A* to B. The average point score per student is 1,025.

Lorna Wills gained a stunning five A* grades in further maths, biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics and will be taking up a place at Clare College, Cambridge to study natural sciences.

Also joining Lorna at Clare College, Cambridge, will be Rachel Newhouse, whose four A* grades has secured her a place to study mathematics.

The school said it was absolutely delighted with its mathematics results which had improved on last year, with 58 per cent of girls entered achieving an A*or A grade in mathematics and 100 per cent A* or A grades in further mathematics.

Six students have secured their Oxbridge university places, five students have achieved the grades necessary to first-choice university places to study medicine, veterinary sciences and dentistry and a further student is heading to the Universite Pierce et Marie Curie, part of the Sorbonne University, Paris.

Headteacher designate Jenn Plews said: "I am absolutely delighted with this year’s A-level exam results, which are a real testament to the collaborative and supportive relationships that exist at SGHS between the staff and the students.

"At a time when young people are facing a world full of uncertainty, our girls are leaving SGHS feeling confident, industrious and well qualified; they can shape their own futures. The results are nothing short of what the students deserve and show what can be achieved through dedication, commitment and maximum effort.

"There are many outstanding individual achievements and I feel very proud of all students. My best wishes go to all the students as they embark on the next exciting stage of their lives."
