CLASS one pupils have new roles - thanks to an Apprentice-style competition.

The youngsters had to apply for jobs and seek references from parents and other people - but, unlike their TV counterparts, no-one was fired.

Headteacher Duggie Speight said: "Everyone gets a job, which they keep for the year.

"We held the event for key stage two pupils a couple of years ago and it worked so well that we have introduced it across the school. It is a fabulous way of getting parents involved."

The jobs range from mobile logistical officer (someone who makes sure computers are ready for use) to health and safety officer (who is responsible for making sure Playdoh is put away properly).

The youngsters also have badges with their job titles.
