SETTLE Primary School’s international links have been strengthened with a visit by South African teacher Zandi Mveni.
Miss Mveni, a key stage one teacher at Settle’s partner Kwezana School, was hosted by school governor Gillian Gape and spent a week enjoying daily life at Settle Primary.
She joined class two children in working on their topic, Healthy Eating, which is a joint project with Kwezana School and taught older pupils how to skip - South African-style.
“They skip a lot at Kwezana, and it’s a very fast skip,” said teaching assistant Sarah Entwistle, who visited South Africa last year as part of the schools’ partnership.
Away from school, Miss Mveni has met members of the church in Settle and went to the Storytelling Festival.
Headteacher Richard Wright said: “We are delighted to welcome Miss Mveni to Settle. We have had a fantastic week learning more about life at Kwezana and working on our joint topics.”
