HEALTHY and tasty meals are high on the menu for a school's pupils - thanks to a brand new kitchen and the sterling efforts of a new cook.

Grassington VC Primary School opened a new 'cooking kitchen' at the start of term, and now 87 per cent of pupils are getting a nutritious cooked lunch every day.

Headteacher Libby Wheildon said: "Our much-beloved cook Amanda Brown is doing a fantastic job. She is very health-conscious in her cooking and is even managing to 'smuggle' in vegetables from the school garden into her recipes!

"We only had a serving kitchen before, so we are all really pleased with the new one. Also the older children are helping to serve the younger ones and are helping to tidy up and wipe down the tables after meals. It makes for a nice atmosphere at meal times."
