A THRESHFIELD holiday club has been voted one of the region’s best in the UK’s top childcare awards.

Kanga Sports, based at Upper Wharfedale School, scooped the prestigious prize in the national Childcare Awards run by the country’s popular parenting site Netmums.com.

Thousands of parents were eligible to vote in the awards, which were set up to celebrate the excellent standards of care in the area and highlight those childcare clubs which go the extra mile to help mums and dads.

Kanga Sports was selected as one of the favourites in the extra curricular and holiday club category, beating off tough competition.

It was set up by 30-year-old Andrew Bode to encourage local children from the small surrounding villages to get involved in PE and sport during their school holidays. He teaches PE at various secondary and primary schools in the area and decided to use his school holidays to further promote sport and physical education.

The club offers a variety of different all-inclusive activities.

Andrew said: “We are delighted to have won such a prestigious prize. It’s nice to know the parents think so highly of us. At Kanga Sports we try hard to make it inclusive of all children in our care and this has shone through in what mums and dads say about us.”

Kanga Sports will now receive a coveted Netmums Favourite badge on their online listing, a certificate to display on the premises plus free advertising on the local Netmums site for a month.

Netmums said: “These awards were a chance for parents to show they care for their childcarers – and we were overwhelmed by the response and number of reviews added. Parents can feel confident Kanga Sports has some of the best childcare available anywhere.”
