COWLING pupils enjoyed an international day of learning as they celebrated the European Day of Languages.

Pupils of all ages had fun learning songs and hearing stories from around the world during the event organised by teacher and MFL co-ordinator Kate Butcher.

Children dressed in the colours of their chosen country and many of the school’s youngest pupils chose traditional Spanish costumes. In class two pupils focused on Germany, class three on Japan and class four on Italy. Class three pupils also tried their hand at using chopsticks and writing in Japanese script.

At the end of the day, parents were invited into school to find out more about the day and hear the children perform some of the global songs learned that day.

With more 6,000 languages in the world, the European Day of Languages aims to promote and celebrate diversity and inspire a love of learning.
