YOUNG cyclists from Skipton's Greatwood School have been learning about keeping safe.
About 12 pupils from years five and six took part in a Bikeability course where they were taught how to look after their bikes, with a particular focus on tyres and brakes.
The importance of wearing proper helmets was also stressed before the young riders were taken out for a ride on the road.
"They were taught to be aware of traffic," said a school spokesman.
The course - which is backed by North Yorkshire County Council - is offered annually.
