FOLLOWING the spectacular Hallé at Giggleswick in 2012, internationally renowned soprano Sarah Fox returns to the village next Friday, January 16.

The Giggleswick-born singer will join pianist James Burton to perform The Cole Porter Songbook in Giggleswick School’s Richard Whiteley Theatre.

The programme was put together last year to mark the 50th anniversary of Porter’s death and includes his greatest songs, including In the Still of the Night, I’ve Got You Under My Skin, Anything Goes, and Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye.

Sarah, who grew up in Giggleswick and was educated at the school, has gone on to sing at Glyndebourne, The Royal Opera House, Salzburg, Munich, Berlin and San Francisco, performing alongside some of the world’s greatest singers.

She also starred in the BBC MGM Prom, with John Wilson and his Orchestra, and served as one of the judges on Gareth Malone’s The Choir: Sing While You Work

As well as being a pianist, James is renowned as a conductor with a vast repertoire including light music and jazz. He has recently conducted for English Touring and English National Opera, and has been musical director for Bernstein’s Wonderful Town starring Connie Fisher.

The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets costing £15 (£11 for concessions) are available from giggleswick.org.uk/rwt or call 01729 893180

Proceeds will go to the Giggleswick School Foundation and will be used to help with various projects across the school.
