PARENTS of children hoping to go to Ermysted's Grammar School, Skipton, have until tomorrow (Jan 16) to have their say about planned changes to the entry system.

So far, North Yorkshire County Council has received more than 100 responses to its consultation proposing changes to the selection system at the school.

It is proposing changes from September including holding the selection exam on a Saturday at the school, instead of the current system of holding them at primary schools, for children in the catchment area.

There will also be two tests, removing a third unmarked familiarisation test, and the removal of one of the two current appeals, if the child fails to reach the required mark.

A decision on the proposals, which do not involve Skipton Girls High School, which is an academy outside local authority control, is expected next month, with changes introduced for the September intake.

Comments on the consultation can be made on the North Yorkshire County Council website.
