PUPILS from a Barnoldswick school took part in an action-packed residential at Windermere.

Ten year 10 students from West Craven High School, accompanied by staff members Jenna Maude, Dean Wilson and Sue Winwood attended the 2015 Lakeside School Challenge.

The students - Bethanie Reeves, Brandon Jullien, Max Newsome, Bethany-Jo Brown, Matthew Kitson, Annie Pilkington, Daniel Jackson, Amelia Bullock, Joshua Lee and Megan Holden - swung from the trees, travelled over assault courses whilst carrying bowls of water, shot arrows, walked tightropes and did night orienteering.

These challenging activities tested their communication, teamwork, problem solving and leadership skills and helped them adapt to new environments and situations.

The final challenge was against schools from all over the UK, and despite some stiff competition West Craven High's Teams B and A came second and third respectively, getting pipped at the post by Emmanuel College from Gateshead.

This was a great achievement, especially as West Craven was without a full team due to two pupils having to drop out at the last minute.

Organisers said it was a fantastic weekend and the school was proud of the pupils' efforts.
