PUPILS at Ings Community Primary and Nursery School, Skipton, celebrated World Book Day - with visits to the town's WH Smith shop and local library.

To underline the benefit of reading at home as well as at school, the youngsters were encouraged to use their free World Book Day Voucher to buy a book to read at home.

And the whole school, including the nursery children, spending a morning in Skipton spending the vouchers.

A school spokesman said: "The staff at WH Smith were very kind, helping every child to choose a book each to take home. Once read, every child will be able to talk about their new story back at school.

"Whilst in Skipton we also went to the library. There we found new books to borrow and old favourites to read. The library staff read some new books to us too.

"It was a celebration of reading for all of us."
