A UNIVERSITY lecturer from Cononley has been shortlisted for three awards by students at Leeds Beckett University.
Robert Minton-Taylor, who lives in Meadow Lane, has been nominated as Motivator of the Year, Personal Tutor of the Year and Innovative Tutor in the Golden Robes awards, which are equivalent, at the university, to the Oscars for teaching.
Mr Minton-Taylor, a senior lecturer at Leeds Business School said: “Having spent 48 years in industry, I simply love building employability and real live work scenarios into my teaching to give students the competitive advantage they need in gaining jobs on graduation.
“I want to see greater diversity in the industry, an end to zero-hour contracts, students to be paid a living wage on internships, as well as more women directors on UK boards.”
The Golden Robe Awards, run by the Leeds Beckett Students’ Union and supported by the Centre for Learning and Teaching, gives 29,000 students the chance to recognise members of staff who have made their time at Leeds Beckett University memorable.
The award ceremony is due to take place on April 30 at Leeds City Museum.
