THE Leverton family from Hellifield are busy preparing for their summer holiday.

But it will be a far cry from last year's jaunt to Disney World in Florida.

Instead, dad Andrew will be cycling 960 miles from Land's End to John O'Groats to raise money for charity.

And mum Sharon and children Jack and Charlie will provide support in a hired motorhome.

Sharon said: "Although Andrew is a keen cyclist, he has never done anything like this before, but is looking forward to the challenge.

"The money raised will be split equally between Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Manorlands in memory of our dear friend Nicola Firth who passed away in 2012."

Andrew and Sharon, who volunteered as Tour Makers for the Grand Depart, will upload a daily blog of their journey on the Levy's LeJog page on Facebook.

The couple are also inviting local cyclists to join Andrew on the Hellifield to Carlisle leg of the journey, which is due to take place on Wednesday. He will be leaving the village at 9am and calling into Escape bike shop at Ingleton.
