LIFELONG members of the farming community have just celebrated 60 years of marriage with friends and family.

Edward and Mabel Booth, of Dobshaw Farm, Lothersdale, both came from farming families and met at a young farmers event. They were married at St John's Church, Colne, in 1954.

They have four sons, Alan, David, Malcolm and Geoffrey - all of whom are farmers - and have 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Around 90 guests attended their diamond wedding celebration, which was held in a marquee at the farm.

The couple asked for donations to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance instead of gifts, and have presented a cheque for £125 to the organisation.

And the secret of a long and happy marriage? Learning to forgive and to keep moving forward, says Mr Booth.
