A SCHEME to alleviate traffic problems caused by ongoing building work at Granville Street, Skipton, is set to be approved.

Lovell, builders of Lambert Hills, the 57-house development on the site of the former Craven District Council offices, is planning to provide off site parking for its workers at Britannia Willis, at the edge of town, off Gargrave Road.

It also proposes to use four laybys on the A629 and A65 as "holding points for site delivery".

It is planned that deliveries would then be made in a controlled manner via Gargrave Road and Brook Street.

Some residents are concerned that the proposed traffic plan will not be complied with.

The scheme is recommended for approval at Monday's planning committee meeting of Craven District Council.

Lambert Hills is not due for completion until autumn next year.
