PLANES, Pilots and the First World War is the title of a talk at Cross Hills Library.
Yorkshire author and RAF historian Joe Bamford will speak at the library in Main Street, on Tuesday, October 7.
The talk - part of the Heritage Lottery-funded Craven and the First World War commemoration project - will focus on Leeds-born pilot Captain Stephen Vickers, who won the Military Cross and was one of the first recipients of the Distinguished Flying Cross.
Mr Bamford has written a book, Surviving the Skies: A Night Bomber Pilot in the Great War, about Captain Vickers’ exploits in the First World War.
Mr Bamford, who served in the RAF, will also talk about how his interest in military history developed.
The talk begins at 7pm and refreshments will be served afterwards. There will be a chance to buy or borrow some of the books Mr Bamford has written.
Tickets cost £2 and for more information, visit crosshills.library@northyorks.gov.uk or call 0845 0349533
