A FINAL attempt was being made last night to save a threatened village gala.
Just three people turned up at a 'make or break' meeting last week.
And it was decided to meet again yesterday evening in a last-ditch bid to keep Cowling Gala going.
A plea was issued for volunteers after the organising committee stepped down at the event’s annual meeting.
Judith Silberberg, secretary of Cowling Village Hall, said it would be a "huge shame" if the event folded but a new organising team was needed.
"The three people who came along to the meeting agreed to try to muster some more support," she added.
"They are hoping to get some friends involved and use Facebook to encourage people to come forward."
Cowling Gala was first held more than 75 years ago and village causes have raised thousands of pounds through it.
