RUGBY legend Sir Ian McGeechan, director of the newly-formed Yorkshire Carnegie (formerly Leeds Carnegie), has paid a visit to Giggleswick School.

Accompanied by Carnegie Academy director Andy Rock, he is visiting a number of schools and clubs in Yorkshire to look at how to develop players and coaches.

“McGeechan is a living legend in rugby circles” said Giggleswick School's director of sport Dan Cook. “We were delighted to welcome him to the school."

While at Giggleswick, Sir Ian met some of the school’s most talented players including 12-year-old Henry Turnbull, who has just been selected for the U13 Independent Schools' Lambs squad

"Sir Ian talked to us about the great friendships he has made through rugby and encouraged us to enjoy playing and being part of a team," said Henry.

Former pupil Taylor Prell, who represented England in U18 fixtures last season, is now on contract at Yorkshire Carnegie. He is one of several past pupils who have been members of the academy whilst at Giggleswick.
