PLANS to build 22 affordable homes at Aynham Close,Grassington, have been deferred for a month.

Yorkshire Dales National Park member Andrew Colley told the planning committee that both the residents and the parish council wanted to have more time to consider the amended plans put forward by applicants Yorkshire Housing.

The parish council had stated that it acknowledged the need for social housing, but was worried that the plans submitted with the application varied considerably from those put forward by Yorkshire Housing at its consultation event.

It also expressed concerns about the density of the proposed development, the site layout, insufficient parking provision and the effect on light to adjacent properties.

Member and district councillor John Roberts also wanted a deferment as Craven District Council’s select committee - which he chairs - was due to scrutinise three of Yorkshire Housing’s developments including Grassington.
