WORK on the building of 12 flats for older people at Roughaw Close, Skipton could start before the end of the year after being given the go ahead by Craven District Council.
The two bedroom flats, being built by Yorkshire Housing, will replace outdated former sheltered housing on the site.
“We’re pleased that planning permission has been granted for twelve two-bedroom flats at Roughaw Close," said a spokesman for Yorkshire Housing.
"This new scheme will offer people in Skipton good quality homes at an affordable price at a time when many people are struggling with rising house prices and private rents. Work will start on demolishing the existing building before the end of the year. Construction of the new flats will begin after the demolition has been completed. “
