THE charity, Harry's Star, named in memory of a baby boy who died of a brain tumour aged ten months, is to launch a website and recruit a support worker in the New Year.

It follows more than two years of fundraising by his mum, Skipton hairdresser Claire Marsden, who so far has notched up almost £59,000 for the fund.

Meanwhile, next Sunday, December 14, in Skipton's Craven Court, between 10am and 4pm, the charity will offer for sale a toy rabbit and horse as part of the fundraising campaign.

They will join a menagerie of toy animals, including a lamb, sheepdog and a pig, which have been key features of the money-raising efforts.

The horse has been chosen by Claire's three-year-old daughter, Lily, and is part of a limited edition of 100.

Claire said: "This year's animal to join Harry's farm is a rabbit which will cost £8 and will join the collection including a lamb, sheepdog and pig.

"Since losing Harry, I've had my daughter Lily who's my world, my everything. She has given me a reason to still love life and get up every day, She wanted to get involved with Harry's Star and launch her own toy for her brother and chose a horse.

"Lily understands she has a brother who is a star in the sky and looks after her. She is aware that we raise money to help poorly little children and she now thinks she helps make them better. "

The Harry's Star project is led by a medical advisory panel and supported by a parent steering group and backs the work being done by Yorkshire's leading brain tumour hospital, such as Leeds General Infirmary.

It currently provides grants for special prescription glasses to children whose vision has been impaired by the condition.

In the spring, Harry's Star will launch its own website, featuring guidance tools for parents and the project will also be recruiting a Harry's Star support worker.
