SKIPTON Girls’ High School community came together to recognise and celebrate the achievements of A-level students over the past 12 months.

Welcoming students, parents, staff and friends, chairman of governorsMartin Kelly praised the school for “another year of aspiration, endeavour and outstanding achievement”.

And he told students: "Your record results in GCSE and A Level are achieved through a combination of grit, determination and perseverance, inspiring teaching and support from families."

The keynote address was delivered by former pupil Sally Ormiston.

Since leaving the school and graduating from university in 2001, Sally has had a career in the public sector, joining Deloitte in 2004 as a management consultant. In 2008 she took on the role of programme director for London 2012, overseeing Deloitte’s sponsorship of the Games and leading a 500-strong team that delivered over 750,000 hours of support to London 2012.

Sally drew on this time to deliver an inspirational speech, encouraging students to "be interested and curious about life and be interesting and stand out from the crowd" .

"Embrace every opportunity to build relationships and work positively with all other people," she added.
