TWO Skipton men Sean Gill and Gary Findlay will tackle the Yorkshire Three Peaks - not once, but twice in 24 hours - to raise money for Sue Ryder's Manorlands Hospice.

Each round of the walk is approximately 25 miles, with 5,300 feet of ascent - and the men will negotiate the route twice, back to back, next Saturday, February 7.

And the pair will take on the challenge whatever the weather, walking through the day and night.

Sean is doing the walk in memory of his parents, Clifford and Mary Gill.

He explained: “In January 2014 I lost my mum to Myelofibrosis Leukaemia. Without the help, care and endless kindness from Manorlands my mum's end of life plan could have been a lot different. She was able to spend the last days of her life in comfort and peace with dignity and respect.

"The care we received as a family was second to none and the support was amazing. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved for mum's care at Manorlands.

"In February 2014, I also lost my dad, Clifford, four weeks after Mum's passing. Some would say a man with a broken heart. I am walking the Three Peaks a year to the day since Dad passed away, in memory of both my loving and sadly missed parents. I would be very grateful if more people could sponsor and support our challenge.”

Gary also has a personal reason for taking on the challenge.

He said: “I am participating in this challenge in memory of my dad, George Findlay, who sadly passed away in May 2009, due to lung cancer. The care, kindness and respect shown to my dad at Manorlands by the nurses and care staff was exceptional, allowing him the choice and dignity to spend his final months in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his loved ones. They are simply marvellous people doing great work."
