ORGANISERS of an annual event to support a Silsden teenager who was badly hurt in a rugby accident are looking for support for this year’s instalment.

Planning has begun for Tag Rugby 2015, which will raise cash to go towards the ongoing care costs of young Nathan Cubitt.

Nathan broke his neck playing for his under 17s team in November 2011, when he was just 16 years old. The accident left him paralysed from the armpits down.

The team arranging this year’s tag ruby contest, which takes place in May, are now looking for sponsors.

A spokesman said: “We’re mainly after a referee’s kit sponsor – the kit last year with a company name on cost £280 to £300.

“We also want either single or joint event sponsors. Without them, we can’t run the event and wouldn’t be able to keep raising funds for Nathan, for anything he needs to help with his day-to-day life.

“We want to make this year’s event another massive success, building on previous years, and making this another great family day out for the community.”
