POLICE are calling for motorists and cyclists to be more tolerant of each other after an alleged scuffle at Bolton Abbey on Sunday.

Officers say a disagreement broke out over who had right of way at the archway outside Bolton Hall.

Insp Geoff Crocker said: "We will inevitably see more cyclists on the roads as cycling is becoming increasingly popular. We have the Tour de France to thank for this and we will shortly welcome the Tour of Yorkshire through Sutton. I anticipate that Craven will see more of the Tour of Yorkshire in years to come.

"It is, therefore, important that all drivers, riders and cyclists play their part in keeping each other safe. Users of motorised vehicles need to be patient and cyclists need to be considerate."
