THE owners of The Grassington House Hotel, Grassington, are celebrating after winning a commendation at the AA's Bed and Breakfast awards.

John and Susan Rudden were first runners-up in the Funkiest Bed and Breakfast category at the awards ceremony held at the Landmark Hotel, London.

It is usually chef, John's culinary skills that win the hotel awards, but this time it was down to Susan's design flair.

Judges, looking for quirky and unique guest accommodation, were impressed with how Susan had combined the hotel's Georgian roots with a contemporary 'wow' factor.

Simon Numphud, head of hotel services at the AA, said: "It is great and an absolute pleasure to recognise all of our 2015 AA Bed & Breakfast awards winners.

"The fantastic range of establishments clearly demonstrates the strength and depth that the B&B market offers in the UK. The quality and individuality really stand out underpinned by great hospitality from their respective, highly committed and passionate owners."

Susan thanked the sheer hard work of the Grassington House team in creating and maintaining world-class standards for their guests.
